Your skin needs protection from the sun and wind to prevent it from drying. It produces a protective, oily substance called sebum. Essential oils are easily absorbed through your skin’s sebaceous glands. As essential oil penetrate the skin they help to naturally stimulate and regenerate healthy cells. This will help to repair skin damage or injury.

Essential oils can help reduce bacterial and fungal infections and soothe sensitive, inflamed skin. You need to match the essential oil to your skin type and condition to be rewarded with its benefits.

Lavender, geranium, rose, and ylang ylang help keep the correct skin balance and can be used on several different types of skin – oily, dry, normal and combination skin. The essential oil provides a soothing anti-inflammatory lotion for your skin returning it to a healing and nutritive state.

Dry skin will benefit most from oils of rosemary, carrot seed, rosewood and sandalwood work best for dry skin. Sometimes dry skin, especially as we get older, is caused by a lack of oil production or decreased circulation. Choose lotion with Peppermint or rosemary to aid in stimulating our own natural oil production. Many of us have dry cracked heels or rough elbows. Lotions with Peppermint will make then silky smooth with one treatment.

Oily skin will benefit from application of basil, eucalyptus, cedar wood, cypress, lemongrass, lavender and ylang ylang. They will help normalize oily skin. Sage and lemongrass will actually slow down oil production.

Combination skin will have area that are very oily. Many younger women have a “T zone” on the face around the nose and between the eyebrows. They also may have a dry area around the eyes, cheeks and the smile lines around the mouth. Pick a lotion with one of essential oils for dry skin listed above and apply to the eyes, cheeks and mouth. Then pick a lotion for oily skin and apply it to the “T zone” area. It’s like treating two separate faces, using a combination of essential oils for dry and oily skin, but the benefits will be worth it.

You can also create your own skin care products in your home. Use these recipes for dry or oily skin.

Moisturizing Cream for Dry Skin

10 drops rose

8 drops patchouli

8 drops sandalwood

5 drops lavender

3 fl. oz. almond oil

3 fl. oz. rosewater

1/2 oz. beeswax

Melt the wax and almond oil in a double boiler. Reduce the heat and add the rosewater gradually while vigorously beating the mixture. As soon as the water is incorporated, remove from heat. When the mixture cools and turns creamy, add the essential oils.

Facial Mask for Oily Skin

10 drops lavender

3 drops clary sage

4 Tablespoons white corn meal

4 Tablespoons almond meal

Rosewater

Mix white corn meal and almond meal. Add the essential oils. Add just enough rosewater to make a wet paste. In a circular motion, gently massage the mixture onto the face, avoiding the soft tissues under the eyes. Leave the mixture on for five to 10 minutes, rinse off thoroughly with warm water. Finish the treatment by splashing cold water on the face to close pores.

Let me ask you a simple question. If you were looking to improve your skin’s texture and elasticity while keeping it hydrated and healthy you would probably want to buy a moisturizer to add to your skin regimen, right?

There are many choices in the market today that are made naturally and some that contain chemicals. Your objective would be to find the best selling natural skin care moisturizer out there. But how do you know what to look for? Let me tell you right here.

No matter what skin type you may have, it’s essential to keep skin moisturized and protected from the elements. The key to finding the right product is researching the ingredients and learning what works best for all skin types.

Any manufacturer can claim to have the best selling natural skin moisturizer, however you need to be careful about what you put on your skin. Some moisturizers, especially those that are chemically derived can irritate skin, clog pores and do little to improve its appearance. Some of these ingredients include parabens which is a carcinogen (known cancer causing agent) and mineral oils which can cause breakouts and acne.

By using key ingredients you can naturally protect, soften, moisturize and revitalize your skin without damaging it. You should look for a product with unique active ingredients and natural oils which penetrate deeply into skin and nourish it.

In addition, if you are seeking to find the best selling natural skin moisturizer you need to look for a product that targets the 3 main causes of skin aging. These are: 1) Loss of collagen and elastin 2) Lower levels of hyaluronic acid and 3) Oxidation through the action of free radicals. These are the primary reasons that can be dull, wrinkled, sagging and show its age over time.

I personally this product use to achieve natural skin moisturizing without the worry of chemicals that may dry or damage my skin.

To solve the first problem of loss of collagen and elastin, it uses a formula called CynergyTK which is a relatively unknown breakthrough in the skin care market. It’s been proven in clinical trials to stimulate the re-growth of collagen, elastin and new skin cells allowing your wrinkles to slowly disappear leaving a youthful glow.

Secondly, it has a unique ingredient called Phytessence Wakame, which is an extract from Japanese sea kelp. It keeps hyaluronidase, a harmful enzyme from reducing the amount of hyaluronic acid in your skin returning it to levels found in only in younger skin.

Third, it contains antioxidants. In particular one called Nano-Lipobelle H EQ10. This CoEnzyme Q10 penetrates deeply into the skin reducing free radicals, resulting in a dramatic reduction in wrinkles.

Extracts of these substances are available in high quality products only available via the internet.

In an age where fear of water impurities has millions drinking bottled water, and concerns about genetically engineered corn has others searching for “natural food sources”, many people are also wondering what type of products to use for healthy skincare.

We are frightened by the new world we seemingly live in, and at first blush may think that organic or natural is the way to go – as the words “organic” and “natural” in and of themselves engender visions of a time when life was simpler, purer and more wholesome.

This fear often drives us to the multitude of publications promoting organic or natural lifestyles; however once we delve into their pages the information barrage may be overwhelming.

Are soy beans really good for us, and if so do we have to eat five pounds a day to see any benefit? Lemon juice may help bleach out age spots, but is all that acid really healthy for our skin? Can ginseng actually alleviate wrinkles, and if so, why doesn’t every skincare company in the world use it as an ingredient?

The truth of the matter is: organic and natural skincare promotions cannot be trusted in a vacuum no more than any other information concerning our health. It is logical to believe that many substances which are an indigenous part of the natural world around us are extremely beneficial to our health, but let’s use some common sense. We were given brains to scrutinize, analyze and research for good reason.

This is where scientific research comes into play. Unfortunately, high profile abuses by pharmaceutical companies and others have somewhat tainted the word “science” in our society, but we must admit that scientific research has more successes than failures to its credit.

The skincare industry, in particular, has been able to rely upon scientific research with great success, in part, because ingredients considered for skincare products can be researched without the high risks associated with products that are internally ingested.

Skincare research that not only investigates the benefits, safety and effectiveness of natural ingredients, but also explores how these ingredients can be enhanced to give us the healthiest skincare product possible, gives us the best of both worlds – a wholesome natural approach that results in the most advanced skincare possible.

The answer to the question posed in the title of this article comes down to how we feel about the following: Would we eat mold to cure an infection? Absolutely not, but availing ourselves of the benefits of penicillin is an entirely different story.

In the same way we need to wear different clothing to protect our bodies against the effects of changing weather, our skin also has other needs when it comes to the skin care regime we use for the different seasons. We should alter our skin care practices accordingly so we can properly protect our selves from the ever changing elements. Many do not know that our skin is in fact our bodies largest organ. We must understand that our skin is far more delicate than we may realize. Let us now take a closer look at how our skin is affected during the summer season when compared to the winter months.

Seasonal skin care differences

Normally the winter months tend to be much colder and much more dry when compared to the summer season when the heat and humidity levels are significantly higher. When our skin is continually exposed to the harshness of winter weather, our skin takes the brunt of this beating, becoming excessively more irritated, chapped and dry. Although the clothes we wear protect most of the skin on our body, many times we often forget to provide protection to our facial area. Don’t assume that just moving indoors is significantly better for your skin. With many people continuously running their home heating system and many also using dehumidifiers, we end up sapping a large portion of the moisture from the surrounding air.

Now if we take a look at the summer months, the temperatures start to warm, our skin is now more exposed to the elements from the simple fact we wear less clothing. Next combine the warmer temperatures with the increased humidity levels. Our natural response to these environmental changes is an increased amount of sweat that our body begins to produce as it tries to cool it self off. The consequence of these environmental and bodily changes is that our skin starts to become much oilier and we also end up more prone to the formation of pimples and other skin blemishes.

For many, swimming is a great way for us to find relief from the heat and easy way to cool off. However it is easy for us to forget that when we swim in a pool we are also exposing ourselves to harsh chemicals and when we go swimming at the beach we have to deal with the affects of salt water exposure which can lead to excessive dryness in our skin.

How to protect our skin during the winter months

It is important to use a sunscreen regularly regardless of what season it is. Many don’t realize that we are just as likely to sunburn in the winter months as we are during the summer. We should use a sunscreen and moisturizer combination or a facial make up product that has a minimum SPF rating of at least fifteen. Make sure you also protect your lips by wearing lip balm or a lipstick that includes sun protection.

We should try and maintain a consistent level of moisture within our skin and in our home or work environments. We can add moisture to the air inside of our home by using a simple humidifier. If you do not happen to own a humidifier you can just place a metal pan filled with water near the radiator or what ever heat source you have near by. It’s a good idea to keep a few plants in your home or office since they naturally help to moisturize the surrounding air. As for adding moisture to our bodies, we can easily do so by using an emollient based soap, cream or lotion.

Another simple thing we can do to help out our skin is to take shorter warm showers. If you use hot water while showering or taking a bath, you end up striping away your bodies natural oils. Taking long showers or bathes also causes us to lose even greater amounts of our natural body oils because we stay submerged in water for to long. If you take bathes frequently it would be wise to add a simple moisturizer to your bath water.

We should attempt to reduce how often we our apply toner after using our facial cleansers. Only use a toner product that has no alcohol or a low level of alcohol content. We also need to gently exfoliate our skin using a simple washcloth or soft scrub in order to remove any dead skin cells as well as stimulate the formation of new skin cells.

How to protect your skin during the summer months

We need to ensure that our skin is receiving significant protection from the effects of the suns ultraviolet rays which contain harmful radiation. We can do so by simply applying a sunscreen product with an adequate SPF rating. We can also wear sun protective clothing which has been specifically designed to protect against UV rays. You should also seek shade whenever possible while outdoors. Lastly it is important to note that the sun is at it’s strongest, between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm. Anywhere between those hours is when we should take extra precautions for protecting our skin from the sun while outdoors.

Our excessive sweating also means we have an over abundance of realize oils which can clog our pores. When can combat this by using a cooling cleanser containing salicylic acid to help keep any skin blemishes under control. We should also use cleansers containing eucalyptus or menthol extracts since they feel good to the skin and also help keep our pores clean and open.

Here are a few more quick tips.

After swimming we should rinse our body with cool water to remove any chlorine and salt residues.

Apply a facial mask once a week to help deep clean our pores and assist the skin in retaining its natural pH balance.

Last but not least , do not forget to change your moisturizing products as the seasons change because our skin does not need the same level of moisturizing protection during the summer months as it does during winter months.

If you walk into any department store you will always see huge counters full of skin care products beautifully packaged and glamorous sales assistants ready to take your money. You will also notice that the most popular brands are the ones you regularly see advertised in magazines. This may come as a surprise, but you are not going to find the world’s best skin care products in these popular stores.

Some of the most well known skin care companies use the cheapest synthetic ingredients in their products and are the most expensive. These chemicals are dangerous to your health and do nothing to enhance your skin. The reason for this is that too much money is spent by the Skin Care Companies on advertising and not enough on product development. There are very few regulations preventing the use of chemicals in skin care products. Some of these chemicals used are listed as follows.

#1 Dioxane is a synthetic agent sourced from coconuts. It is easily absorbed by your skin and known as be cancerous.

#2 Mineral Oil, also known as petrolatum, liquid paraffin or paraffin wax. It does nothing but clog the pores of your skin, preventing toxins from being eliminated and causing acne. Mineral oil causes skin dryness leading to the appearance of early aging.

#3 Alcohols with various names such as ethanol, benzyl, isopropyl, ethyl and methanol. These alcohols strip your protective layer of the skin known as the acid mantle allowing bacteria and viruses to enter your body. Dryness and irritation is another problem.

#4 Parabens known as methyl, butyl, propyl and ethyl are used as preservatives. They can cause allergic reactions, rashes, problems with your endocrine system and cancer.

#5 Fragrances all consisting of various chemicals.

As you can see, products with the above chemicals are definitely not the world`s best skin care products. Your skin is your largest organ and is like a huge sponge absorbing anything that is applied to it. Once anything is absorbed by your skin it will enter your blood stream to be carried through the rest of your body.

So, if you were to discover the world’s best skin care products, what would you be looking for? I would suggest company integrity, chemical free ingredients processed so as not to destroy any essential ingredients, scientifically researched ingredients to enhance and feed your skin, the latest technology in skin care a couple of years ahead of the mainstream, ongoing scientific research, only the very best natural ingredients used, nothing spent on advertising, not found in department stores, manufactured and sold directly from the factory to eliminate the middle man and a money back guarantee.

This is a very brief overview of the world’s best skin care products

More information can be found on my Website so please click on the link. You have nothing to lose, only the chemicals.

In the last few years there have been countless new-fangled ingredients in skin care that the sound very fancy and make incredible claims. Some profess to make your wrinkles disappear in one day, others claim that you could bounce a quarter off your skin after using their product, and still others have so many ingredients that you can’t pronounce, you might as well be reading a science book.

Ingredients will come and go but over the centuries natural quality ingredients for skin care never change. Some may be the current hot thing, but most if not all have been used for centuries in and they still hold up in modern natural skin care. Don’t be fooled by modern fancy sounding names, most are just made up to sound good for the expensive marketing campaign that the giant conglomerates are going to spend 20 million dollars on. Below is a list of the eight best natural additives that you should be looking for in your skin care.

The first ingredient is olive oil. This amazing wonder of nature comes from the most ancient of lands, in fact it was mentioned in the bible and also used by the Greeks and Romans in many of their skin care regimens. Interesting how we have learned so much in modern science about such an ancient ingredient. Olive oil contains polyphenols, which are the known as strong antioxidants and are reported to reduce the incident of skin cancers when applied to the skin directly after UV exposure. Also the vitamin A found in olive oil has been known to be beneficial for wrinkles, age spots, and other skin damaging effects from the environment.

The second natural ingredient is shea butter. Found mostly on the savannah in Africa, shea butter is a natural fat that is extracted from the nut of the karate tree. Shea butter is an amazing natural carrier of Vitamin A & E. Many studies site shea butter for its ability to fight wrinkles because of the high amounts of these two vitamins. The vitamin E is helpful to the skin because it increases the micro circulation which results in better blood supply to the skin, therefore helping the skin recover better from free radical sun damage.

A fruit butter you probably have never heard of, but should of, is cupuacu butter. Grown in the rainforest of Brazil this fruits’ seed contains the most magnificent butter, and is also known as the plant alternative to lanoline. Studies have shown that Cupuacu butter is highly beneficial for dry and damaged skin. It has properties that promote long lasting skin hydration which means it gives skin significantly more ability to easily absorb and retain water. Because of the high levels of phytosterols within cupuacu butter, the skin becomes more elastic, and consequently is better able to reduce the appearance and development of wrinkles. It also has been shown to help in the healing of eczema and dermatitis.

The forth natural ingredient is squalene. Derived from olive oil, squalene is chemically similar to the skins Sebum, which is the normal lubricant of the skin. It keeps the skin supple and forms a protective bacterial and fungicidal coating that helps moisturize the skin’s surface. It just so happens that the sebum is overflowing with squalene when a person is younger, but as we age we loose the ability to produce this substance in sufficient quantities that is required for soft and supple skin. Because squalene is part of the natural skin lubrication process, tests have shown that it has the ability to provide hydration and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Squalene is easily absorbed into the skin and makes it the perfect natural non-greasy skin care ingredient that also improves the youthful appearance of skin.

The fifth ingredient is honey. Honey is also one of those ancient skin care miracles that science has only recently begun re-discover. Honey is rich in vitamins and amino acids that nourish the skin; it also contains powerful antioxidants, allowing the skin to fight free radicals, therefore helping to reverse the aging process and also reducing the development of wrinkles. Honey is also known as an antibacterial and antifungal. A University of Wales study concluded that honey produced an antibacterial effect reducing if not eliminating the incidences of skin infections. It seems that ancient wisdom in conjunction with modern science all agree that honey is one of the finest skin care ingredients in natures collection.

Propolis, another incredible bee ingredient, which is a resinous mixture that honey bees collect from tree buds, sap flows, or other botanical sources. It is used by the bees to seal the hive, the same way we use caulk to seal gaps in our house. However, unlike caulk, propolis contains flavonoids which makes it a proven antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. Because of the high levels of vitamin C, E, and beta-carotene skin care ingredients containing propolis are known for their ability to stimulate the healing of skin, especially when it is used for anti-redness and other skin irritations.

The Seventh great natural skin care ingredient is silk protein. Silk protein is obtained by the breaking down the actual silk cocoon so it can be used in cosmetic preparations. Silk protein is used in skin preparations as a natural moisturizer, a skin elasticizer, and may even help to control the growth of melanin in skin that leads to age spots. A Japanese study concluded that a type of silk protein even has the ability to suppress skin tumors caused by chemical and UV radiation. So, silk isn’t just a natural product you should wear, go ahead and use it on your skin.

The final product that must be mentioned is Beeswax. Some people make the assumption that beeswax when used in skin cream formulations blocks your pores. In fact beeswax is non-comedogenic and will not irritate skin or block your pores. It is one of the only waxes that will let your skin breath while still having the knack to keep it hydrated. Beeswax is one of nature’s most wonderful ingredients to use, and does an amazing job as a skin soother and softener. It also has natural antiseptic properties. The mayo clinic even recommends lip balms made from beeswax instead of petroleum based ingredients. Beeswax is an effective multi-purpose skin ingredient that effectively softens your skin and also locks in the moisture while still letting your skin breathe. Look for it in all you skin cream products.

Please use these natural products in your skin care, not only will you be helping the environment by using these sustainable products, you will feel better, look younger, and probably be more healthy overall.

Aloe Vera skin care which is as integral part of herbal skin care methods, use this juicy plant to help fight skin disorders. What ever be the skin disorders, using Aloe Vera contained products always helps to remove blemishes and marks which becomes very vital. Though you might be cured from it clearing off the marks is very important. This can be easily grown in your kitchen backyard, providing you with all the necessary vitamins for a glowing skin.

Simpler aloe Vera skin care methods are using the natural ingredients available in your kitchen. These include garlic, which is very beneficial for hypertension, various cardiac ailments and very good for your skin. Much simpler natural home skin care methods include drinking a lot of water, which helps to keep you hydrated in order to avoid the hot sun from extracting all the moisture from your skin. Eating fresh fruits and vegetables helps to achieve a healthy skin. It also will give the best results when consumed in the raw form.

Other Aloe Vera skin care methods involve using herbal products that contain them. Organic natural skin care is preferable because the products used here are in their purest form without any deficiency in them. This is because the plants from which these components are extracted are grown in natural means without the usage of pesticides. When components such as grape seed oil or Babbassu oil is used you might winder what difference it makes. The pesticides that are used are not just superficial. This gets absorbed into the fruit and the seeds. These seeds are then utilized to extract oil and other components.

It has been observed in the recent years that men and women are looking for products which can make their skin look good as well as healthy. This is the reason for an increase in demand for the natural herbal skin care products.

Tea tree, MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA, native to Australia, is a tree or shrub with needle like leaves similar in appearance to cypress with heads of sessile pale flowers. The popular tea tree oil is derived from this tree. The aborigines of Australia have been known to have used the tea tree oil to treat a range of ailments from colds, sores to acne and even whooping cough.

Extensively used in aromatherapy, the leaves when crushed release essential oils of varying amounts and constituents. The oil is so potent that it can be diluted up to many times its volume and it still manages to retain its effectiveness all the same. Although the benefits of tea tree oil are numerous, for beauty treatments, it’s been found effective in skin and hair care. The following sections describe the uses of Tea Tree Oil for skin care and hair care.

Tea tree oil for skin care

Tea tree oil has been used effectively to treat acne, abscess, athlete’s foot, blisters, burns, cold sores, insect bites, oily skin, rashes, spots, warts and wounds. You can use tea tree oil to cure sunburns, diaper rash, toenail infections and problems of smelly feet.

Tea tree oil for hair care

Add a few drops of Tea tree oil to your regular shampoo to treat hair problems like persistent dandruff, itchy-scalp and even prevent head-lice. Massage it in, leave it on for 5-7 minutes and rinse off. Adding a few drops in pet shampoo/bath helps keep tics and rashes at bay.

Other benefits of tea tree oil

Fed-up with allopathic medicines? Packets of antibiotics that have gone down your throat seem to be of no use? The only things you find they have lightened are your pockets? Well, don’t panic, help is at hand, Tea Tree oil can be used to treat a variety of medical problems. A great remedy to soothe your sinuses; dab a drop of tea tree oil around your nose can help clear up blocked sinuses.

Add a few drops in a steam bath or vaporizer and inhale, a great relief for persistent colds and cough. Regular use of tea tree oil has been found to be effective in treating Asthma, bronchitis, catarrh, cough, sinusitis and even tuberculosis.

Tea tree oil is a great general disinfectant and can be effectively used to treat genito-urinary tract infections such as thrush, vaginitis, cystitis and pruitis.

Tea tree oil has properties that act as a immune booster. It helps equip the body to fight off a host of infections. Using tea tree oil is particularly effective if the body is already in a weakened condition due to illness, stress or prolonged treatment-involving antibiotics that lead to a reduction of the body’s natural resistance.

Using tea tree oil prior to a surgical operation or for those suffering from long-drawn debilitating illness has been found to be beneficial. The anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties have seen tea tree oil being used extensively in soaps, toothpastes, deodorants, disinfectants, gargles, germicides, aftershaves and colognes. Tea tree oil is safe to use, as it is non-toxic and non-irritant.

Although tea tree oil has no known side effects, some individuals may be sensitive to it. This calls for consideration of the strength of tea tree oil and should never be used undiluted on the body and particularly on sensitive areas.

There is no secret to a natural treatment for psoriasis; it’s as simple as caring for your skin. Reading the labels of the skin care products you use and knowing the ingredients is the starting point for care for your psoriasis. For any natural treatment for psoriasis there are things that you need to consider.

You begin your natural treatment for psoriasis with a skin cleaner that is very gentle. Anything too harsh will only exacerbate the scaling and increase the discomfort of your psoriasis. The cleanser you use should be one the completely cleans your skin of dirt and makeup and does not leave your skin feeling oily.

While the majority of skin care lines do have exfoliates, many of these products are much to harsh for anyone with psoriasis or any other form of inflamed skin. Exfoliates such as those with ground up apricot pits should be avoided, while exfoliates with oatmeal, sugar, or Epsom salt are gentle enough for regular use. They are good for removing the dirt, make up and flaky skin; yet as a natural treatment for psoriasis they will not hurt your already sensitive skin.

As important as good and consistent cleaning of your skin is, you need to be equally careful when it comes to moisturizing your skin. Everyone, especially someone with psoriasis, should moisturize all parts of their skin especially the rough and dry patches. For psoriasis suffers the moisturizing will help to prevent both cracks and sores from developing.

While most of your local drug stores will not have over-the-counter products for the natural treatment for psoriasis they will have a number of skin care products that are very beneficial for helping to control your psoriasis. Skin care products with plant or mineral oils or cocoa butter can be applied topically to the rough and dry patches, if not all over the entire body, to help with itching and dryness that is so noticeable with psoriasis.

You may not be aware and it may seem strange to you, but a great natural treatment for psoriasis is coal tar. These tars come in a variety of forms and in many products, including creams (moisturizers), shampoos, gels, and soaps. These tar products tend to enhance the effect of ultra violet light (a moderate amountof sun) and are beneficial to the dryness and skin lesions.

Psoriasis suffers need to be especially careful that the skin care products they use, cleansers or moisturizers ‘Do Not’ have the ingredients of perfumes or alcohol as these will dry and crack the skin.

“Good” moisturizers for psoriasis suffers tend to be creams that are thick and rich enough to keep moisture directly on the skin and should be applied after showers while the skin is still wet. The moisturizer or lotion should then continue to be reapplied many times during the course of the day.

Now even though sunlight is somewhat good for psoriasis, too much sunlight, not to mention a sunburn, is not good for psoriasis. To much sun will cause drying, cracking and sores to the skin. With skin care for psoriasis you need to find a moisturizer with sunscreen. If a good moisturizer with sunscreen cannot be found, then you need to find a good, gentle sunscreen that is non-drying and is free of perfume.

Some psoriasis suffers find that a simpler natural treatment for psoriasis often works very well. That of taking cool water baths and adding such natural ingredients as Epsom salts, oils, or even oatmeal to the water. The resulting bath calms the inflammation of the skin and eliminates itching.
